5 stars (A superior media player, that outpreforms the rest...) - I've used WinDVD 4,6 and now 7 platinum versions. I'm impressed. It will play files that neither Real nor Windows Media Player will play. Additionaly, say you're downloading a movie and you pause it (and you have a fragmented media file which most players will not play because it is not complete)... WinDVD will play it while Real and Windows will not. Also, I bought the new Los Loney Boys CD, which came with some fierce copy protection... It wouldn't play on my computer at all... I tried Real Player, Windows Media, Roxio, Creative.... and alas, WinDVD played it. The benefits: Well, it plays every media file type, you can pan, zoom... and some better features are the Quick Capture button, where you can pause your movie, and take a quick picture of the screen. Have you ever watched a movie and said, "Man, that would make a good background for my pc."?, now you can. Also, you can take quick clips, a short clip of the movie, any part you want, and save it to your PC. It plays CDs that Most other mainstream media players could not or would not. As a PC junkie, I'm impressed with its ability to play many things that most other media players wont. You won't find the difficulties you find in other players. The cons: High price! About 80 dollars. The earlier versions, 4,5,6 have pretty much the same features, but the newer versions seem to use less memory and have a few more options.
